“1Q84” by Murakami: This is the world in the mirror

That is exactly what readers will find after reading all of this work. Murakami has developed an alternative world, a mirror of the world we live in. At one point, a character has argued against the existence of a parallel world; but the two main characters of Murakami, 1Q84 live in it, will realize that they are living in a world where they did not desire – a replica of the real world. The world in which they knew is gone, replaced by a copy of which the world has disappeared.

Something I call “real Africa” reflects the confidence of a generation, as what they get in life is a copy world, where everything is repeated a bad way. The concept of “Realism” does not mean much, since most of the time, one can talk about a novel without verifying its authenticity, or even sometimes we accept receive an event, a character entirely “unreasonable” or “completely unrealistic”.

Novels, stories, or even non-fiction works of Murakami refused to clearly distinguish the concepts above. We express, often very impressive, the lure of the “real Africa” and the paranoia of ordinary people, who can not face the real world in which they live. The result usually is consistent with what I call “Unrealism” – “real Africa”. There, people often follow the sect. They believe in the Apocalypse and The Judgment, they go find the rabbit hole, through which, they look to the Lewis Carroll that both Murakami and called “Wonderland”. The thought did not exist, the time it stopped. Of course not all have to think like that, the majority of stories were told about the extraordinary effort to get out of Wonderland, but Wonderland is still a vital part of the story.

1Q84 was a big story explores the illusion tied to its characters to this world and the liberating them from the world. Center novel protagonist is 2: Tengo, a novelist daily in a school math exam in Tokyo; Aomame, an expert in physiotherapy, as well as a killer “part-time”. They met when he was ten, love each other through the fist, and despite being separated later, they still love each other. The novel takes us to watch over the journey of two fates together, go through the maze full of pitfalls and strange evil. Romance is the core of the novel, like Murakami has somehow made a combination of “Magic Flute”, “Artisans and Margarita” and the novel horror classic “Rosemary’s Baby “.

1Q84 also reminiscent of novel anti Eden George Orwell’s 1984. The event is described as occurring in 1984, however, Murakami has built a cult leader Sakigake with a charismatic Tamotsu Fukada, along with a union that is both ignorant people to follow. Tengo and Aomame were “falling” out of the ordinary world of two years to the world of 1Q84. Shrouded by the shadow of Sakigake, where laws are enforced violence, the main character of the novel maximum suppressed by the devil, which allows authors to deploy many different factors.

1Q84 world of more complicated, from what the two main characters encounter, mostly by accident. In this Wonderland, the supervision is present everywhere, innocent people in hiding, violence throne. Who said that the “real Africa” is not true to real life? Create a Wonderland almost became a player familiar with Murakami measures: the protagonist of The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, for example, find themselves at the bottom of a shallow wells. In his book about offensive Underground poison gas in the Tokyo subway station, Murakami wrote:

“The role of underground installations is particularly important in my novels, especially The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle and Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World. The character goes on an Underground World in search of a something, and so the adventure continues. They’ve really gone underground in the heart of the world, both physically and mentally. “

World of 1Q84 includes Tokyo and the periphery of the city, along with the cultural values recognized from the past to the present (the main characters are brought into this world by a concert of Janáček’s Sinfonietta) . That world also includes two moons, the elves, Pupa Air … 1Q84 really a marathon. Experience reading this book really is a long distance running; in most of its length, 1Q84 as the reader can not stop turning to the next page; book as an antidote to modern life, with the warm, deep romance, and the jovial somewhere in every page.

In 1Q84, mostly narrated the story from both sides – Aomame and Tengo. In the first chapter of the book, Aomame finds himself stranded on the highway in traffic, exits up a billboard under the Esso. She had crossed the fence, and from here, the reader experienced Murakami knew she had entered another world.

The man that Aomame assassinated by the periodic ice scrapers mostly sexual abusers, and in a certain degree, I realized that Aomame has served as a representative of God’s justice . Corruption is present everywhere that these events reflect, have encountered resistance by the true love that Aomame and directed to novel, or at least remembered – in her case with Tengo . Then, with the introduction, led by the hostess and bodyguard gay people – a very lively character – Aomame have known existed, crimes of Leader; with the excuse of a treatment cycle muscle relaxation, Aomame met Leader. The conversation between the two characters was Murakami build a 21st century version of the conversation between Ivan and Alyosha in The Brothers Karamazov by Dostoyevsky great writer – a debate with the divine nature .

Meanwhile, another hero of the novel, Tengo, was taken into another world through the revised novel “Pupa Air” Fuka-Eri’s. Her story seems at first just a medley of myth and fairy, but below that, you realize a hidden allegory, told about what had happened to her. The novel that has become a phenomenon, and Tengo suddenly found themselves got into trouble once with Fuka – Eri build her story.

Some factors in 1Q84 at first glance it seems worthless. Murakami has cleverly used these factors to the development of the plot. Since the theme of St. Matthew, Brothers Karamazov, Tchekhov’s book about the life of Sakhalin, the Sonny and Cher’s quote, or Harold Arlen. The theme dispersed, and then again as all other details in 1Q84, are returning to the Leader and his sect. The cult has become the main source of energy of the whole world 1Q84; Sakigake have put Tengo and Aomame power from 1984 to the 1Q84. The cult of world domination. Only love can resist. Here, the structure of the book was to return to traditional motif inherent.

The 1Q84 interesting is the conflict between the “actual logic” with the desire to give the reader “a higher power” comes from the “real Africa”. “Real Africa” refute what we are, or what “is said that we are”. In a culture by itself created, almost every problem can be resolved. The fiction, which Murakami knew perfectly well, can create a world that reflects what is happening. That world can be completely unrealistic, but also can completely deny the real Africa. The fiction, in itself, is both a poison, but also the antidote; just as the novel “Pupa Air” is mentioned in the 1Q84, is itself both a wake-up call, but also could be a dangerous illusion. So it is good or bad? Tengo was not sure what. Perhaps, it is a wrong question.
